Training & Background

Qualifications:BSc, MBBS, MD, FRCP
Year first qualified:1990
GMC number:3482924
Clinic times: By appointment

Dr Cikurel qualified in medicine from the University of London, in 1990. Further training and experience saw her added to the GMC’s specialist register for Neurology in 2001, although a wish to broaden knowledge did not end there.

Two years additional training in neuro-oncology and HIV neurology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York proved valuable. As has Dr Cikurel’s constant wish to acquire knowledge which can benefit the patients she treats.

Along with being a renowned consultant neurologist in a wider sense, Dr Cikurel has special interests in neuro-oncology, epilepsy, migraine and neurological disorders.

She has held positions at leading specialist centres across the UK, including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. Her ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team has proven helpful to colleagues and their patients.

The way Dr Cikurel treats those who visit her directly is equally welcome. She has known she wanted to be a doctor from a young age and is dedicated to medicine, reflected in her wonderful ability to reassure patients at every stage.

Research & Teaching

Dr Cikurel has taken part in a number of published research projects. They include managing HIV peripheral neuropathy, how clinical teams can support patients with a brain tumour, tumour related epilepsy, a study of the peripheral nervous system and another on motor neurone disease.
